چکیده

This paper presents an accurate and efficient full-wave method, combined with iterative adjoint technique, for analyzing sensitivities of planar microwave circuits with respect to design parameters. Method of moments (MoM) in spatial domain is utilized, and generalized conjugate residual iterative scheme is applied to solve the linear matrix equations with fast convergence. Green’s functions for multilayer planar structures in DCIM form are employed to simplify the spatial domain manipulation. In the present method, a conventional integration model and the corresponding adjoint model are solved by MoM respectively. The adjoint technique, with the aid of iterative schemes, could significantly reduce the computational requirements, especially for the large electrical size device with many perturbing design parameters. Numerical results of S-parameter sensitivities of a low-pass microstrip filter by the present method are presented. Accuracy and efficiency are validated. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Analysis of Planar Microstrip Circuits Using Three-Dimensional Transmission Line Matrix Method

The frequency-dependent characteristics of microstrip planar circuits have been previously analyzed using several full-wave approaches. All those methods directly give characteristic of the circuits frequency by frequency. Computation time becomes important if these planar circuits have to be studied over a very large bandwidth. The transmission line matrix (TLM) method presented in this paper ...

Sensitivity Analysis of Water Flooding Optimization by Dynamic Optimization

This study concerns the scope to improve water flooding in heterogeneous reservoirs. We used an existing, in-house developed, optimization program consisting of a reservoir simulator in combination with an adjoint-based optimal control algorithm. In particular we aimed to examine the scope for optimization in a two-dimensional horizontal reservoir containing a single high permeable streak, ...

A Unified Theory for Frequency-Domain Simulation and Sensitivity Analysis of Linear and Nonlinear Circuits

-In this paper, a unified theory for frequency-domain simulation and sensitivity analysis of linear and nonlinear circuits is presented. An elegant derivation expands the harmonic balance technique from nonlinear simulation to nonlinear adjoint sensitivity analysis. This provides an efficient tool for the otherwise expensive but essential gradient calculations in design optimization. The hierar...

On Approximate Stationary Radial Solutions for a Class of Boundary Value Problems Arising in Epitaxial Growth Theory

In this paper, we consider a non-self-adjoint, singular, nonlinear fourth order boundary value problem which arises in the theory of epitaxial growth. It is possible to reduce the fourth order equation to a singular boundary value problem of second order given by w''-1/r w'=w^2/(2r^2 )+1/2 λ r^2. The problem depends on the parameter λ and admits multiple solutions. Therefore, it is difficult to...
